Cabinet Timbers produce high-quality genuine Blackbutt timber veneers, which are available on particle board, plywood and MDF. Blackbutt veneer panels can be used for a variety of indoor applications including joinery, wall units, kitchens, cupboards, furniture, offices and shop fitting.
Blackbutt veneer is also known as New South Wales Blackbutt and Coastal Blackbutt. It is one of the most versatile varieties of hardwood, and is mid-brown in colour. This sustainable natural wood veneer is usually slip matched, so that adjoining surfaces have a repeating grain figure, but joints do not show a grain match.
Blackbutt veneer can also be book matched, so that adjoining surfaces have close to the same appearance but are mirrored. Quarter cut timber veneers are made by cutting a log into quarters before slicing each quarter at right angles to the growth rings. This results in a veneer with a uniform lined vertical grain for a contemporary finish.
Timber veneers are also environmentally friendly. Not only is wood a recyclable and renewable material but using veneers also extends the use of a piece of timber compared to using one solid piece. Cabinet Timbers’ Blackbutt timber veneers are responsibly sourced from local forests. Our range of Blackbutt Quarter Cut Veneer is stocked in our Melbourne warehouse.
Natural Feature Grade (NFG) Blackbutt is also known as Wormy Chestnut and Blackhole Blackbutt. As the name suggests, it is prized for its natural colour variations, ranging from light to medium browns with a signature black grain.
