Tasmanian Blackwood Veneers

Cabinet Timbers produce high-quality Tasmanian Blackwood veneers, which are available on MR MDF.  Blackwood is one of the most popular Tasmanian timbers due to its lustrous finish. It is also known as Australian Blackwood, Tasmanian Blackwood, or Acacia Melanoxylon Blackwood. Blackwood veneer panels can be used for a variety of indoor applications including joinery, feature panelling, ceiling panels, furniture, drawers, kitchens and shopfitting.

Blackwood, a natural species, exhibits a diverse colour palette, from pale honey and rich golden brown to various dark and grey shades. This sustainable natural wood veneer can be book-matched so that adjoining surfaces have almost the same appearance but are mirrored. The texture of fiddleback Blackwood timber veneer, whether seamless or straight can be easy to use.

Tasmanian Blackwood crown-cut veneers are made by cutting the log of timber in half, and then slicing the half straight across, running parallel to a line through the centre of the log at a tangent to the growth rings. This causes crown cut veneers to have a strong grain pattern in their centre, with a more linear effect towards the edges resulting in a beautiful finish.
